The Community Association of Greater Snug (CAGS) is run by a committee of volunteers from our local area. We’re a diverse and dedicated bunch, who meet five times a year to discuss local issues, progress community projects, and plan for future activities.

You don’t have to be on the committee to get involved with CAGS. Become a member, join our mailing list, or come along to one of our events.

GET IN TOUCH

Here’s what we’ve been up to recently.

LANDCARE

We’ve been busy revegetating at Snug River, Snug Beach, and Coningham Beach. As a registered Landcare group, we value and look after our local natural environment.

Safer pathways

We actively lobby Council for safer pathways in our neighborhood. The new pathways on the Channel Highway and Davies Road are a huge win for our community.

Installing AEDs

We applied for and won a grant through St John Ambulance, allowing us to install two new AEDs (defibrillators) in our community. You’ll find them at Coningham Beach and the North West Bay Sea Scout Hut.

Community survey

So we can advocate effectively, in late 2024 we surveyed households in Lower Snug and Coningham to find out what matters to local residents. Click here to find out what we learned.

Now, we’re asking for input from residents of Electrona and Snug. If that’s you, click here to complete the survey.

Emergency readiness

We ran a series of free workshops for local residents in Spring 2025, to help the community get emergency ready, learn basic first aid skills, and feel more confident in the event of a natural disaster. We’re also offering a free emergency kit to all new CAGS members (one per household).

Better bus travel

We reached out to Metro Tasmania and successfully reduced fares for people boarding buses on the Channel Highway in Lower Snug. We’ve also contacted the Department of State Growth to express our support for their plans to build a northbound bus shelter in Snug town.
